Chapter 16
On the plane...
On the plane ride home, I mainly slept the whole way but I woke up sometimes because the kid behind me kept kicking my chair. While I was awake I listened to my cds. I did all I could to keep my mind off of the guys and Nick but it was like impossible. I missed them already. I especially miss Nick the most. I've always wanted to meet him but now that I did, I knew I blew things up. I never thought that it could turn out like this and if I could turn back time, I would. A tear sprang down my cheek. The lady who was sitting next to me saw me and handed me a tissue.
"Thank you."
"You're welcome. But tell me, why are you crying?"
"I was just thinking about something."
"Do you want to talk about it? We still have a couple more hours before we land. I'll be willing to listen if you are willing to talk."
"I guess." I told her my story, about how I became a dancer, how I found out Nick had a girlfriend, how I found out Nick had a girlfriend, about how he broke my heart and how they broke up and told me he loved me. She listened to every word and seemed as if she knew how I felt. When i finished telling her she said, "It seems to me, this Nick guy is a really nice person. He does care about you and you're just pushing away his love. Why didn't you give him a chance?"
"I don't know. I didn't want to be hurt. And he did just break up with Mandy.. he could've had non-existing feelings for me."
"But if he did love you?"
"Then, I'm sorry about how things turned out."
"I think you should call him up and talk about everything. Maybe that would help clear the air for you."
"Thank you."
"And sweetie?"
"Yes?"
"Give him a chance."
"I will. Thanks again for all your help."
"It's quite alright Mel."
I smiled and left her alone. For the rest of the ride, I slept dreaming of Nick. I woke up hours later and got ready to leave the plane. At 10 o'clocl the plane landed and I got off, got my luggage, and headed home. I got home in less than 25 minutes and found that my mom wasn't home. I went up to my room and unpack while I was doing that I turned on my cd player and listened to the sound of the voices. The Backstreet Boys' MILLENNIUM cd was playing. I sang along with the words and soon finished unpacking. I put the cd on pause and went to get some lunch. I made a sandwich and went back upstairs to my room and put the cd back on. As I sat down to eat my sandwich, I Need You came on. I suddenly had a flash back of when Nick was rehearsing the song. As I listened to his angelic voice I stared out the window and thought about what has happened to me in the past couple of weeks. I knew it was something that I would never forget. As the song finished, I saw my mom's car come up the driveway. I ran downstairs and hid behind the door to surprise her.
She walked inside and I jumped out.
'Hey Mom."
"Mel! What are you doing here?"
"I live here remember?"
"I know but aren't you suppose to be on tour with Tina and the Backstreet Boys?"
"Yeah but something happened and I decided to come home."
"It's good to have you back. It's scary living in this big house all by myself."
I laughed and said, "I'm glad to be back. I missed it and it's your fault. You were the one who wanted to buy the house."
"I know.. Sweetie, why don't you go unpack and get settled in again while I decided to make for dinner tonight."
"Great."
"I'll call you down when supper's ready."
"Alright thanks mom."

I ran upstairs to my room and decided to call tina. I knew she was mad and I would've had to explain everything to her. I picked up the phone and called her cell.

While I was on my break, my cell rang and I made a jump for it.
"Hello?"
"Hey Teens It's Mel."
"Hey Mel."
"What's up?"
"Oh not much but since you left, Fatima had to run out and find a replacement."
"Sorry about that."
"Why did you leave? I know what you wrote in the letters weren't true."
"Ok..so they weren't but I was hurting."
"From what?"
"I know that Nick doesn't have feelings for me."
"And you know this because?"
"I just do. Seeing him hurt and depressed made me sad because I was the one who cause him this pain."
"But you caused him more pain by leaving. He really needs you and he wants to be with you. Why can't you just accept his love?"
"Because he doesn't love me."
"Yes he does and you're just pushing yourself away from him."
"You should've seen his face when he read your letter. You're the missing piece of his life."
"No I'm not."
"Yes you are. Now drop the subject because I'm gonna pass the phone around. Everyone wants to talk to you."
"Oh...all right."
"Hey Mel! It's Bri."
"Hey Rokster."
"We all miss you Mel. You didn't have to leave you know. We could've always kicked Nick out."
"Yeah...Real funny."
"Oow.."
"Wat's wrong?"
"The guys just gave me major puches for that."
"That's what you get."
"Anyways Mel, call back when you can K?"
"Alright. I'll try."
"Love ya."
"I love you too Brian."
"Brian handed the phine around and everyone said their "HIs" and "Miss Yous" and "Wished you were heres." Nick was the last one Mel wanted to talk to. She didn't feel like it at the moment.
"Brian?"
"What's up?"
"Is there anyone else?"
"You know there is! You have to talk to Nick."
"Do I have to? He already hates me and now he hates me even more."
"Mel, that's not true. Here's Nick."
"Hey there."
"Hey Nicky. How ya doing?"
"I was better when you were here but now there's a big empty space inside me. Why did you leave me?"
"I was hurting too much."
"Was it because or me or me loving you?"
"Nick, I was hurting because you were hurting. My being so harsh after you told me how you felt made me sad to see you so unhappy. I never meant to hurt you. I only wanted yu to be happy."
"How can I be happy when the girl I love just walked out my life?"
"There'll be other..."
"But there'll be no one like you."
"That's not true. Nick.."
"Yes it id."
"Listen, Nick, there are a million girls out there who are willing to go out with you. You'll find the right one soon."
"I already have and she walked out my life."
"I'm sorry Nick. I hope things work out for us. I wish I could stay longer but I have to go now. I'll call when I can OK?"
"K."
"Bye."
"Mel?"
"Hmm?"
"I do love you. I hope this time you'll believe me." he said and hung up. I listened to the dial tone for awhile before putting the phone away to be recharged. Thinking about his words, I went downstairs to help my mom make dinner."
