Chapter Ten
The next two days were the longest of Summer's life. She couldn't wait to get back home. Erica, on the other hand, was having the time of her life. She spent every waking minute with Brian.
Finally, Saturday morning came. The flight back to LA was scheduled for 3:15 p.m. Brian, Nick, and Mandah took Erica and Summer to the airport. Right before the plane boarded, they said their good-byes.
"Well, Brian," Summer started, "It was so much fun spending the week with you. You're probably the coolest celebrity I've ever met."
"What are you talking about? I'm probably the ONLY celebrity you've ever met."
Summer shrugged. "Yeah, well....anyway, I won't miss you that much because I'll probably see you when you come out and visit Erica. And when she comes to see you, we all KNOW she'll bring me along."
"In your dreams," Erica said before she and Brian went off by themselves.
Summer turned to Mandah. "I'll have to take a rain check on that shopping trip. Don't forget to look me up the next time you're in LA."
"I won't forget. You can count on it," Mandah replied.
Summer and Nick looked at each other for a few awkward seconds. Then, they shared a long hug. "Carter, you're one in a million, and I'm sure that I will NEVER forget you," Summer said, fighting back tears.
"Me, neither. And I wanna come shopping in LA, too," Nick said. Summer just rolled her eyes.
"THIS IS THE LAST BOARDING CALL FOR FLIGHT 351 TO LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA!"
"Well, I guess that's us," Erica said. "Come on, Summer." The girls gathered up their luggage and headed for the terminal. Just before she boarded, Summer turned around and got one last look as the man of her dreams walked away, hand-in-hand with his girlfriend.
THE END....or is it??
