Fishing for Bass by mike
Fishing for Bass

What I did on my summer vacation. How I caught a 5 pound bass.

One late summer, in the Cadamount mountains, I went fishing at my uncles lake. It was 8:00 am in the morning, the weather was cool, and there was a rain shower; earlier that morning, that cleared up.

I went on my uncles canoe, and I rowed to the lilly pads, and dropped the anchor. I used night crawlers, for bait, but the sunfish ate them, from the hook. I decided to try a blue and silver, original Rapala minnow, it was one of my favorite lures.

I casted along the outer edge of lilly pads, and a fish hit the lure.

As, the fish swam out; I set the hook, and then the fish swam toward the boat. I saw the fish, as it swam under the boat and tried to go into the lilly pads; it was a big large mouth bass. I had to fight the fish, so it wouldn't go into the lilly pads. When I got him near the boat, away from the lillypads, the fish fought again, swimming straight to the bottom of the lake, taking out my drag. I was using 6 pound test fishing line. I let the rod tip bend down, and then started reeling him in, as he started being played out. I got him back to the side of the canoe and grabbed him from his gills, and got him into the boat. I brought the canoe back to the bank, of the lake.

I went back to my uncles mansion, a once summer camp, that he bought and restored.

My Uncle weighed the fish, and took pictures of it; and it weighed 5 pounds.

My uncle said, "Are you going to get it mounted?"

I replied, "I want to eat the bass."

I cleaned the fish, and removed the fish slime, with the edge of a fillet knife. I removed the fins so it could fit into the pot. After the pot of water started to boil, I put the fish in, for 20 minutes.
Then I drained the water from the pot, and put the fish on a plate. I put sliced scallions and ginger, on top. Then, I poured boiling oil, that sizzled, when poured over the bass

Our family, and my uncle ate the fish, for dinner.

Before we left, to drive home; I gave the lure to my uncle, so he could use it for fishing.

I emailed my cousins, on my computer, so that they could here about my vacation; and I, e-mailed them a jpeg, PIC of the fish.
