In 1996, I went to a computer show, because I was interested in buying a new computer. I saw computers, priced at $2000 - $3000; then, I saw a Pentium 100 CPU computer, with 16 Meg's of memory, and a 1 Gig hard drive, that was priced at $1000; so, I bought it.
It was an IBM compatible computer that was made to run Windows 95, instead of the old Windows 3.1. It had a 1 Gig. hard drive, that was twice the size as the old computers. In 97, I upgraded my computer, and the main board to a Pentium 200 MHz computer and it was 21% faster. It was nearly 42%, faster then the old computer after I added all the other upgrades, I increased the memory, from 16 RAM, to 64 RAM that made it another 15% faster, when used with Windows-98. Then, I upgraded the L-pipeline cache, from 256 to 512, which made it another 6% faster.
I bought a 28.8K modem for it, to go on the Internet.
I bought a Okidata color printer for my computer. The replacement ink cartridges, had to be purchased from Okidata, on the Internet.
In 1999, I bought a Y2K card, for the millennium, so my computer would be, year 2000 ready.
In 2001, I went to a wholesale show, and I bought another printer, that was remanufactured, called a Cannon, bubble inkjet, for $35. The new printer was 95/2000, user friendly.
I bought a $30, 56K modem, for $25. I used a five dollar savings coupon, at a computer store. The new modem upgrade, made my Internet speed, twice as fast as it was.
1996 was called, a computer race, because the Pentium computers, was a new competitor on the market.
