This highway, on the Northern Terminus, is a hop-skip-jump from the Virginia State Line, it's so close. Similiar to it's sister highway NC 16 in many ways, it's an easy drive with no surprises along the way. It also doubles as a Main Street for Shelby, Morganton, Lenoir, and North Wilkesboro.
