A friend of mine in Hickory said it best, "Why the Hell are you on NC 10, It's the middle of nowhere." Once the Central Highway, reduced nowadays to a country road that services only Newton. On the plus, it is a rustic drive back to a time when farming was the only way to make a living in the Catawba Valley area.
