Letter to Peter Boross, Prime Minister of the Republic of Hungary, December 26, 1993.

Dear Honourable Mr. Prime Minister!

It is my pleasure to convey the best wishes of Hungarians of Voivodina, and my own personal well wishes to You as the new Prime Minister of the Republic of Hungary. On the basis of your activities in your new role as a Prime Minister, is evident that you will make a worthy successor of the great former Prime Minister, Mr. Jozsef Antall.

These are historic times, and those who are privileged enough, will have the opportunity to shape the events of history. We, the hungarian politicians of the Carpathian Basin, as legitimate representatives in our respective communities, are accountable for the decisions affecting the future of our nation. The coordination of the parts and the whole into an integrated existence is a new historic challenge that can not be renounced.

We, as Hungarian politicians in Voivodina are striving to contribute to the emergence of a new order based on cooperation and tolerance. According to our capability, we are trying to contribute to bringing forth real changes in the former Yugoslavia. To preserve our national identity, we have a program of a proposed local autonomy and we are dedicated to its realization. We are convinced that the concept of our local autonomy is the only means of retaining our national identity.

Attached, please, find my letter to Dr. Geza Jeszenszky, Minister of External Affairs. I ask you to take into account our position in the matter of the latest Proposal for the Pact on Stability in Europe. I ask you to do all you can do, so the decision taken in this matter will serve the all encompassing interests of all Hungarians as a Nation. With respect, András Ágoston, President, DCHV
