How to make & use a Picture Tube
.NVR BORDERMANIA was
used for this tutorial
Get
yours here (freeware)
.You need to download
these and unzip them. Then open EXPLORER and go to where ever you
unzipped the files to and cut the 2 nvrbm files. Go to PROGRAM
FILES>PAINT SHOP PRO>PLUGINS and paste those 2 files there. Close
explorer.
Here's the pic we will be using for this
lesson...Right Click to save....
Open the pic in PSP.
Go to SELECTIONS>SELECT ALL
Go to EDIT>COPY
Close out the pic
Go to FILE>NEW
Width: 200
Height: 200
Background color: Transparent
Click ok
Go to EDIT>PASTE>AS TRANSPARENT SELECTION
After doing that you can see that his eyes and teeth have no color
in them. Click the flood fill tool pick white for your foreground color
and flood fill his eyes and teeth.
Now go to FILE>EXPORT>PICTURE TUBE
Now type in a name and click ok. We just made a
tube.
Now close out the pic and go to FILE>NEW
Width: 300
Height: 150
Background color: White
Click ok
Ok now we are going to flood fill this with a
background. Here's the bg we will be using...
.
Now open the bg pic in PSP. Make sure the empty pic that we are
going to flood fill is selected. You can just click on it's bar to
select it.
Click the flood fill tool. If your control palette didn't come up
then we need to bring it up by clicking on the control palette button .
On the control palette it says FILL STYLE click the arrow and select
PATTERN now click OPTIONS the Blend Mode should be set to normal. Click
the arrow beside NEW PATTERN SOURCE and pick the bg we are going to use.
I have named it bg4 so that's what I'll pick. Close out the Control
Palette. Now flood fill the empty pic. It should look like this...
Close out the bg pic. Now we are going to make a frame for it. Go
to IMAGE>PLUGIN FILTERS>NVR BORDERMANIA>FRAME #2
I used the following settings...
Border Width: 70
Frame Width: 24
Highlight Intensity: 110
Shadow Intensity: 130
Make sure there is no check beside Bevel or Notch
Corners.
Click ok
Now it should look like this....
Now we get to use the tube we made. Click the
Picture Tube tool.
On the control palette click the arrow and select the tube we
made. I named it Garfield so I will select Garfield. I used a Scale size
of 51. When you point and click where ever your tip of the brush is, is
the middle of the pic tube. So put your tube where ever you want it. If
you don't like where it placed it and you want to try again. Go to
EDIT>UNDO PICTURE TUBE and try again. I placed mine on the left side
and this is what it looks like...
Now we need to add text to it. We are going to add
gold text. Click the text tool and select your font. I used Black
Chancery font, bold, size 26. Make sure the box beside Floating is
checked and click ok. Go to IMAGE>OTHER>HOT WAX COATING do that 4
times. Go to COLORS>COLORIZE and use the following settings...
Hue: 34
Saturation: 154
Click ok
Now let's add a shadow by going to
IMAGE>EFFECTS>DROP SHADOW I used the following settings...
Color: Black
Opacity: 100
Blur: 6.5
Vertical: 1
Horizontal: 1
Click ok.
You can move your text around if you don't like where it placed
it. Go to SELECTIONS>SELECT NONE and save your tag by going to
FILE>SAVE AS and type in a name and save it as a JPEG file and click
ok.
Now it looks like this....
