Text Effects - 3D
Cutout Text
Open a new file
Width: 400
Height: 200
Background color: White
Pick a foreground color. Light to medium color works
best. Since I already have light purple there that's what I'm going to
use. Click the text tool and pick a font. I'm using the same font with
the same settings. Go to SELECTIONS>SELECT NONE. Go to
IMAGE>BLUR>MOTION BLUR use these settings...
Direction: 45 Deg.
Intensity: 20 pixels
Now click the selection tool and
draw a rectangle around your text. Go to EDIT>COPY. Make sure you
have white as your background color. Hit the delete key on the keyboard.
Go to EDIT>PASTE>AS TRANSPARENT SELECTION. Now the text is
selected again. Go to IMAGE>OTHER>HOT WAX COATING. Do the motion
blur again with the same settings. Go to SELECTIONS>MODIFY>EXPAND
by 1 pixel. Go to IMAGE>BLUR>SOFTEN. Now click the text tool again
and lay the same text like this...
Now to give it the cutout effect go to
SELECTIONS>MODIFY>CONTRACT by 3 pixels. Go to
IMAGE>EFFECTS>CUT OUT use these settings...
Shadow: Black
Opacity: 100
Blur: 10
Vertical: 4
Horizontal: 5
Now crop and buttonize and it looks like this...
Well, that's it. Pretty cool huh?
