Text effects - Chiseled Text

The DOWNLOAD file contains the following file...

eld.pal

.

Download, unzip into your PSP's Palettes file.

Open PSP...

Go to FILE>NEW

Width: 300

Height: 100

Background color: White

Click ok.

Click the foreground color box and pick a color you want your text to be. I picked a hot pink. Select a font. I picked Arial font, Bold, size 36. Make sure Floating is checked. Click ok. Select none.

Click the Retouch tool . Use the following settings on the control palette...

Tool Controls...

Retouch mode: Smudge

Paper Texture: none

Brush Tip...

Shape: Vertical

Size: 2

Opacity: 100

Hardness: 0

Density: 100

Step: 25

Now go in the middle of each letter and draw the letter. Like the white in this...

But as you are doing it doesn't look like it's doing anything. That's ok. Do each letter. Now click the magic wand and click on the bg. Now if you have any enclosed areas of the bg such as in an o hold down the shift key and click inside the areas. Now go to IMAGE>CHISEL I used the following settings...

Size: 20

Transparent

Click ok. Now go to SELECTIONS>INVERT and add a drop shadow if you want. Here's mine...

Did you know that you can flood fill text with a bg pic? Open the pic you want to fill it with. This is the one I'll be using...

Now you're ready to place your text (the fatter the text the better). Make sure both foreground and background boxes have white. I'm using Comic Sans MS font, bold size 36. Place your font. Click the flood fill tool. Set your control palette like this..

Fill Style: Pattern

Match mode: RGB Value

Tolerance: 200

Opacity: 100

Click Options. Use the following settings...

Fill Style: Pattern

Blend mode: Normal

New Pattern Sorce: Pick your bg

Click ok. Now flood fill each letter. Then if you want add a drop shadow.

Here's what mine looks like...

Now I will do the same thing with this one...

With a different font. It looks like this...

Here's what that one looks like if I do the chisel we did earlier...
