How to create a Transparent Gif
.
Right click on this image to save to your hard
drive.
It is recommended that you create your image
over the same background color as your web page.
When you convert the image to a transparent
Gif, it will blend seamlessly into the page without a halo.
.
Open PSP
Open the file named Trans1.jpg.
Go to COLORS>DECREASE COLOR DEPTH>256 COLOR
(8 bit)
Use these settings in the dialog box....
Palette: Optimized Octree
Reduction method: Nearest color
Options: 1 (Check include windows' colors & Reduce color
bleeding) and click ok.
For this lesson we want to make the background of the image
transparent. The background's white now. You might ask "If the
background of my page is white and the background of my image is white
why does it need a transparent background?" Often when you decrease
the color depth of an image, it may slightly change the shades or hues
in the image. When you place the image on a web page you may get a box
around the image. By making the background transparent, you eliminate
the chances of this happening.
Now we need to choose the transparent color. Pick white as your
background color. Go to COLORS>SET PALETTE TRANSPARENCY and a dialog
box will come up, select...Set the transparency value to the current
background color and click ok. Now just go to FILE>SAVE>SAVE AS
and save it as CompuServe Graphics Interchange(*.gif) and that's it.
Got any questions just ask...
