If you do not belong to the batch of STANLEY MEDICAL COLLEGE (1990-96) then you are going to find this letter boring and sentimental. so, please leave this page now. If you do belong to the above batch, you will still find this page boring and sentimental, but unfortunateley you do not have a choice than to continue on.
Dear Batchmate,
It is almost five years since we all parted formally on the day of our graduation and the grief of that moment is still palpable, when you think about it. I am sure we all still remember those tear filled eyes, the wailing throats and those huge embraces of that night. Since then we have been scattered across the globe and taken a few wobbly steps into this uncertain world on our own. The time that we all had togther is definiteley irreplacable and un re-windable. I find great honour and joy in creating this web-site for such a loveley batch.
During these years, I have often wondered what my friends were doing? Will I ever come to meet them? And used to find pleasure in thinking about events at college. As we get embroiled in our personal lives, these memories will become less and less frequent, till the memory of college life becomes one faded black and white photograph. Then, of course came the concept of internet and emailing to our lives, where people could communicate within seconds across the globe making this world a very small place. And soon there were hundreds of aluminii sites across the net and that is when I decided that our special batch should have a web-site. And we no longer have to fade away from each other lives, whether you like it or not.
If you are wondering what you could do with such a web site, first of all it could be your only portal of entry to communicate with other batchmates within seconds. You could gossip endlessly on the message boards or the chat rooms provided, share your college and family photographs in the photo albums , check out whether you are the subject on the recent gossip page, and if you are one of those serious types you could definiteley start serious discussions on the disscussion boards where like minded individuals can participate. You can just discuss about anything under the sun, Subject, Hobbies, Career etc.
I have spent hundreds of hours in the last few months in making this skeleton site for the batch. Yes, it is definitely a skeleton and adding flesh and life to it definitely depends on you. There is no point in having a website like show piece without any interaction and contribution going on. It will gradually go into disuse and dissappear from the virtual world of internet. So, I suggest that every time you enter the site, mark your presence by leaving a message on the message board so that others can follow. Your ideas and contributions would be most welcome and if you feel that you can contribute more to the design of the site, I will be more than happy to give you the access, as and when required.
It would have been really nice if we had this up and running when we left college, when it would have been far too easier to have all the essential information about our batchmates and to publicise it. But I guess, at that time we were all a bit wet behind our ears with respect to technology. So one of the most uphill task is going to be making our batchmates aware of the existence of this site and that would only be possible with your help. For example you could spread it by word of mouth, letters or most effectiveley by email. If you can collect and send me all email addresses that you have, it will hardly take any time to get hold of all our batchmates and soon the site would be buzzing with activity. All of us should whole heartedly try and make sure that each and every one of our batch gets reunited in this world of ours.
I would like to thank jayaraj for supplying me with email addresses that he had and Boon for making an announcement in our Batch day celebrations ( 5th aug ) and supplying some more email ids.
Now that we only have a handful of members, the site is already buzzing with activity, thanks to the present members. There is not a single day nowadays that passesby without me checking out the activity on the site and I hope to do that till I am a ripe-old man.
I hope you would too and may be you will meet my grandchild one of those days.
Praveen.
