My first trip to Oshkosh. Circa 1994 (?)
The EAA Convention at Oshkosh, WI is like Disney for aviators - a true spectacle of flight. The trip there and back in my Tomahawk was fun as well.
Something old, something new. The Concorde arrives, with a row of Champs, Cubs, and other light aircraft in the foreground.
Midwestern Thunderstorms are incredible. This one was visible all afternoon. It provided a beautiful background for the fly-bys and the airshow. The picture on the left is the EAA's Ford Trimotor, which gives rides during the EAA Convention. The picture on the right is the French Connection, an outstanding airshow act.
Sadly, both members of the French Connection (a husband/wife team) were killed in a practice accident in May, 2000.
I need an open cockpit biplane! This one is a Meyers OTW (I think). If memory serves, it was a contender to become the primary flight trainer for the US Army in WWII. The Stearman won the competition.
