Close formation flight in a Jumbo Jet!
Through personal connections and a significant amount of groveling, I got to ride in a big green flying gas tank known as the KC-10 Extender.
Wash the windows and check the oil while you're at it. These photos were made from the refueling station in the KC-10's belly.
Before and during the refueling connection. In these pictures, we're flying close formation (probably 40' separation) in JUMBO Jets! I'm not sure the guys at Delta and American do this.
I've moved up front to the cockpit of the KC-10, and another KC-10 is passing gas to us! This was awesome!
