Model Rockets
Model rockets obviously don't go as fast or as high as medium powered rockets so therefore they don't need to be as solid. But it is always good to make them strong and reliable so that you get many launches out of them.
The main suppliers of model rocketry are Estes and Quest. Here is a short list of things that I think are important when making a model rocket.
1. Plastic cement and white glue are fine for making most parts of model rockets.
2. Do not use plastic cement on
fins! Instead use 5min Epoxy which is a lot stronger (even than super glue!). I
would also suggest using this on tube couplers. I say this because if you don't
they tend to fall apart and break. This stuff is available at rockets + things
and Deepsky. (check my links).
3. If you haven't used Kevlar shock cord start now. It's great stuff, you tie it to your engine mount and have it long enough to pop out the end of your tube you then tie your shock cord to it. It's helpful because it increases the life span of your shock cord. This is also available from rockets + things and Deepsky.
4. On the majority of model rocket kits the shock cords are too thin and short. I always put a longer or thicker one on my kits. This is also available from rockets + things and Deepsky.
