Syrian hamsters are not difficult to differentiate from the other hamster species because it is much larger than the others. The syrian hamster was the most common hamster a few years ago and is a very popular pocket pet around the world. Character: Some syrian hamsters bite but most of them are friendly and curious creatures. Once attacked or provoked, some hamsters run away but others will stand their ground and give you a nasty bite. These hamsters are relatively slower moving than the other smaller dwarf hamsters.
