Hotel Califurnia Instructions

CLOCK
The lobby floor features a large clock-face. Time ticks by in
5-minute increments, as indicated by the large black tile as
it moves around the dial.

FRONT DESK - CHECKING IN
The hotel's front desk is manned by three Gargathon brothers.
They might not all be on duty when you arrive. (Their names
are Rell, Mordim, and Melwick.)

There are three private rooms in the hotel, color-coded red,
yellow, and blue. The Gargathons stand on colored tiles which
indicate the available rooms.

To reserve a room, bump into the desk in front of a Gargathon.
He'll ring the bell, drop your room's color-coded key at your
feet, and run off on his coffee break. Pick up the key, and
you're ready move into your room!

ELEVATORS
There are two elevators in the hotel, both situated on the
northwest wall of the lobby.

To use an elevator, walk in and bump the lever. The door
will close, and you'll find yourself traveling between
floors. After a few moments, the door will open again and
you'll find yourself on the other floor.

You can force the elevator to make an emergency stop between
floors by bumping the lever again. You can resume your trip
by bumping the lever a third time. A stopped elevator will
eventually be called back anyway, even if you don't release
the emergency stop., so do be careful.

Disembark when your reach the floor of your destination.

If no elevator is available when you need one, you can call
one by standing beside its closed door and typing CTRL-U to
use your empty hands. You may need to drop your room key
first, so don't forget to pick it up again! After a few
moments, an elevator will appear.

DOORS

Medium brown doors are passable, and openable. If you stand
on the south side of a closed door and use your empty paws,
the door will swing open - and remain that way until someone
closes it. Again, you may need to drop your key first.

Dark brown doors are impassable.

White doors are elevators: see elevator instructions.

Red, yellow and blue doors lead to private rooms that can
be reserved at the hotel (see instructions on reserving a
room). Use your key on the south side of a private door
which matches your key's color to open or close the door.
Unlike other doors in the hotel, private room doors are
impassable when closed (unless you're carrying the right
room key).

MEETING HALLS
There are two meeting rooms on the lower floor, suitable
for panel discussions or other large meetings. The Cardinal
Room, in the far northwest, has red chairs. The Indigo Room,
just northwest of the lobby, has blue chairs.

STAIRWAYS
In case of any difficulty with the elevators, there is
a stairway situated down the hall to the northwest of
the lobby, between the Cardinal and Indigo rooms. The
stairway goes all the way to the roof, where the pool
is located.

HOSPITALITY SUITES
There are two hospitality suites on the second floor.
The President Room, at the northwest end of the hotel,
offers a long conference table, excellent for dinner
parties and roundtable discussions. The Excalibur Room,
at the southeast end of the hotel, offers a more casual,
party atmosphere.

Each suite is equipped with a bathroom, complete with
sink, commode, and (in case of inebriated guests or
other contingencies) a shower. Bump the sink to run
water, or CTRL-U your empty paws to operate the toilet
or shower.

The suite's kitchen is stocked with plates, utensils,
cups, and victuals. Bump the kitchen counter from within
the kitchen to prepare a meal, or to clean used dishes
off the counter.

From the meeting/dining area, bump into plates on the
counter to transfer them to the floor where you may
pick them up. Place dirty dishes on the floor next to
the counter and bump the counter to move the dirty
dishes onto the counter-top, where someone in the
kitchen can clean them up.

You can place dishes on the meeting room's tables in
the same way: drop them at your feet, then bump the
table. Bumping the table again will put the dishes
back on the floor, where you can pick them up. The
tables in the private rooms also work this way.

Watch out for the furniture - pillows can get in the
way of any plates you try to move around! Also, the
pillows are too large to be removed from the suites.

Bump into the refrigerator to dispense ice. Bump into
the kitchen sink to run the water.

PRIVATE ROOMS
There are three private rooms on the second floor,
color-coded red, yellow, and blue. To reserve a room,
you'll need to get a key in the lobby. Use the key
outside the room's door to open and close the room.
Unlike other doors in the hotel, private room doors
are impassable when closed (unless you're carrying
the room key). Keys left unattended are periodically
collected, and the rooms made available for new guests.

Each room is equipped with a bathroom, complete with
sink, commode, and a shower. Bump the sink to run
water, or CTRL-U your empty paws to operate the toilet
or shower.

Bump into the television to turn it on and watch your
favorite cable channel.

Use your empty paws in the north corner of the room
to open the curtains. The balcony outside offers a
gorgeous view of Hotel Califurnia's parking lot.

The table in your private room can accept food from
the hospitality suites. Drop the plates at your feet,
then bump the table. Bumping the table again will put
the dishes back on the floor, where you can pick them up.

ENJOY YOUR STAY!
