"Saying Good-bye" 1/1
Willow walked out of Doctor Neuman's office with tears in her eyes. That was
one of the hardest things she ever had to do. She felt like a quitter. She
gave up on an old friend. Oz was dead. And she had to give the Doctor the
OK to do it. No. The doctor didn't do it. She did. She killed Oz. In
reality, the doctors would say that it was a new strain of virus that they
couldn't combat. All Willow knew was that Oz was hurting. "It had to be
done," she would later tell herself. Right now, all she felt was pain.
Tara had died four years earlier, jumped by a vampire late one night. She
had been walking alone and couldn't get her stake out fast enough. She never
saw it coming. Willow felt even more devastated then when she lost Tara.
Was that wrong? She guessed it was because she didn't have to watch Tara
slowly suffer like she did Oz. None of that really mattered to her now. Oz
was dead. And it tore her up inside.
Two nights later, Willow stood over Oz's grave. She placed a single red rose
on the dirt. She still couldn't believe he was gone. He had been at her
side for years. He had made her laugh. He had made her heart melt at the
cute little things he did. Now he was gone. She would truly miss him. She
bent down and ran her fingers over the markings on the small tombstone.
HERE LIES MR. KITTY "OZ" FANTASTICO
2000-2017
Willow silently stood and went into the arms of her husband, Daniel Osbourne.
Today was their second wedding anniversary. She was glad it was
mid-afternoon so they could spend the rest of their day together doing more
pleasant things then visiting the grave of her dead cat. As they left the
pet cemetery hand in hand, Willow smiled. Turned out, she was more of a dog
person, after all.
