"Moondance" 1/1

Willow waited for Oz outside his locker. She had to see him before school was over. She had to tell him something that was going to make him very happy. And she liked when Oz was happy, though she never really knew when that was. Him being pretty much expressionless and all. Willow saw him finally approaching the locker and she brightened.

"Oz, where have you been? You didn't show for lunch."

"Sorry, Will," he responded. "But I am in a real hurry. I have to get so much ready for this weekend. The Dingoes are playing this weekend and I have a lot of school work to catch up on. I'd like to graduate this year." Willow sighed. "Well, will I see you after school?"

"Sure. Meet me in the library. I'll see you before I go into wolf-mode."

With that, he ran off before Willow even got to say good-bye.

Willow sat in the Library after school. Xander and Cordy were off somewhere probably screaming at each other, Buffy and Giles were at the museum doing some kind of undercover research that they didn't need her for, so she sat in the library all by her lonesome. If she didn't tell Oz the good news soon, it might be too late.

Oz rushed into the library about 10 minutes late. Willow stood. "Oz..." she started. "I know, baby," said Oz, cutting her off, "I'm late. But I made it with just enough time..." Oz went into the rare book cage and started to undress. Willow sighed. She was afraid it was going to come to this. She picked up the club sitting on the table and walked over to her boyfriend. She cracked him over the head with it and Oz hit the floor with a loud thud. Willow winced. "Sorry," she said to his unconscious body. "I hope you don't get mad about that later, but trust me...it'll be worth it."

Oz woke up in the front seat of his van. The passenger side. And Willow was driving. Oz looked at the digital clock on the dashboard and it read 5:45. Oz sprung up in his seat. "Willow! It's quarter to six! Pull over! The moon's almost up!"

Willow rolled her eyes. "Oz if you would let me explain..."

"There's no time! I can feel it...the transformation is beginning...Pull over please! There's an open field up there. Hurry!" Willow figured she'd humor him. If he wanted to change into a were wolf in the middle of a field, who was she to stop him? She pulled over to the side of the road and Oz flew out the door. He ran into the middle of the field with Willow running behind him yelling his name trying to get him to stop. But Oz just ran into the direct center of the field and began to pull his clothes off.

"Oz, wait!"

"Willow get out of here! It's happening...I can feel it..."

Now completely naked, Oz knelt down in the soft grass and shut his eyes tight, waiting for the animal inside him to emerge.

He opened one eye when it didn't.

"That's what I've been trying to tell you," said Willow kneeling down next to him. "I found a spell in one of Giles' books that will cure lycanthropy. It doesn't cure it completely...just for one night of the full moon and that's it. You can never do it again."

Oz looked down at his naked body. Then up at the traffic jam Willow caused when she stopped the van...no more than 20 feet away.

"Okay...*this* sucks..."

Oz's cheeks reddened as Willow threw her trench coat around him. "Thanks, baby. Not just for the coat, I mean..." Willow shook her head. "I know. And you're welcome."

Something else caught Oz's gaze and Willow turned to see the full moon gazing down upon them. "Wow," breathed Oz. "Never thought I'd get to see it again." Willow smiled. "Is it just like you remembered?" Oz shook his head. "I guess that's one thing in this world that will remain constant." Willow stroked Oz's cheek. "I know one more thing." She leaned in and kissed him passionately.

"So," said Willow, "what shall we do on this very lovely evening?" Oz scratched his head and smiled. "Well, you know," he began, "I've heard that a full moon can make a person do some crazy things..."

"Oh really?" said Willow, smiling now as well. "Like what?"

"Well, like make love in an open field while a pissed as hell traffic jam looks on."

Willow giggled and stole a quick kiss before they both stood. "Think we should move the van?" said Oz, grimacing at the honking horns and obscenities being hurled at them. "In a minute," said Willow. She wrapped her arms around his neck and he in turn wrapped his around her waist. She rested her head on his shoulder and they danced under the light of the full moon. In the background, horns honked, people yelled and a row of cars gathered up for the good part of a mile. But Willow and Oz couldn't hear any of that as they were lost in the song that their hearts played.

For it was a marvelous night for a moondance.

The End
