Mark: Well, I don't know really. Obviously, extremely, extremely shocked. I never ever thought that this show would close. Out of any...especially out of Andrew Lloyd Webber's shows, but out of any show in the West End. I just thought it would go and go and go.
Me: But he doesn't like it.
Mark: Well, I know. But he's had a press release out this morning saying that the reason it's closing is because he wans to make way for his new musical, Bombay dreams ('Bollywood Nights') .
Me: Which isn't even his.
Belle: He's only producing it, he's not even writing it.
Mark: So.. and he wants the space for it. But their gonna have a UK tour of Starlight, a European tour of Starlight...
Me: I hope that's nothing like the American tour.
Mark: Erm
Belle: Trouble is, staging a tour of Starlight - how do you tour the races?
Mark: Well, when they did it in Japan - I've seen a video of the Japan show - Erm, it was in stadiums (sic - stadia) rather than theatres, so places like the NEC in Birmhingham, Earls' Court, places like that.
Me: But if you ever see a video of the American tour, that's all in theatres.
Mark: But they've said that they would never do a British tour in theatres.
Me: Oh good.
Mark: They said that last night.
Belle: It wouldn't work.
Mark: British theatres aren't big enough to do it
Me: No.
Mark: So... I just can't believe it. I was gonna leave in March, I'd made a decision that I was gonna leave, and do something else, but I'm still just complely shocked that it's closing and that'll be it forever.
