Tri-Jubilee Celebrations - May 2005
Sri Thyagaraja Sangeetha vidyalayam will be reaching a milestone of completion of 25 years of music classes in 2005. In commemoration of this unique achievement, the Vidyalayam is planning to celebrate the occasion in a grand manner in May 2005. It is proposed tentatively to conduct the function on 20-22 May 2005 at Chennai with the grace of GOD.
The occasion
will also coincide with the great achievements of 50 years of musical career by
the founder, Principal, Music Teacher & Sangeetha Vidwan Sri G N DESIKAN,
who will also be completing 75 years of age then.
To chart out the programme for the
successful conduct of the tri-jubilee function, an organizing committee is

STSV has been celebrating
Ganakaladhara Madurai Mani Iyer Day, since 1982. Sri G N DESIKAN ,being a student of Sangeetha Vidwan Sri V R
Sethurama Iyer, Disciple of Late Madurai Mani Iyer, celebrates his Guru’s Guru
remembrance day every year during
vidyalayam anniversary celebrations since 1982. Eminent
vidwans like Sri V R Sethurama Iyer, Sri T V Sankaranarayanan, Tiruvengadu Sri
Jayaraman, Sri B V Raman & Sri B V Lakshman, Dr. S Ramanathan, Dr. Madurai
Soma Sundaram, Bombay Sisters, Sikkil Sisters, Prof. T R Subramaniam, Sri N
Ramani, Late Kalakkad Sri Ramnarayan Iyer etc. have rendered programme
during Madurai Mani Iyer Day.
Being Silver Jubilee Year for the Vidyalayam, all the
committee members have suggested to have the programme of Padma Bhushan Sri T
V Sankaranarayanan, Disciple & Nephew of Late Madurai Mani Iyer to
sing for this year Madurai Mani Iyer Day to
be held on 20th May 2005.
4. VIDYALAYAM’S SILVER JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS
The Founder,
Principal & Sangeetha Vidwan Sri G N DESIKAN ,started the Vidyalayam in
1980. He has taught music for more than 2000 students till now. His students have participated in many
Music Competitions in schools, colleges, AIR, TV & other institutions and
won many prizes. Many students are
giving programmes in public and are still continuing with higher learning in
music.
Four of his students are ready for arangetram this year.
This programme is scheduled for 21st May 2005.
CELEBRATIONS
Along with
the completion of 25 years of STSV, this synchronizes with the
Founder principal’s 50 years of music service at the age of 75 years during
this period. STSV intends to celebrate it in a grand scale, as it is a unique
achievement in the field of carnatic music.
On 22nd May 2005,the programme of the day starts
with celebrating the Sri Thyagaraja Jayanthi, singing of PANCHARATNA Kritis by
eminent Vidwans followed by a Programme of Sri G N DESIKAN & Party.
After the music
programme, being a Silver Jubilee Year, STSV
intends to honour 25 artistes in the Carnatic Music associated with the
Vidyalayam Celebrations this year followed by facilitations
to Sri G N DESIKAN by his music fans, Students, Artists, Sabhas, etc.
