Old Deuteronomy, the leader of the Jellicles, is a wise, old cat of many minds. His coat is grey and white and looks tattered. He has lived a long time (most likely all of his nine lives and then some), and is probably the next in line for the journey to the Heaviside. Most, if not all of the Jellicles are probably related to him in some way. He doesn't judge a cat the way the others do. When Grizabella is rejected and taunted, he doesn't let it go too far. Old Deuteronomy lets her say what she has to, and at one point, sees that she's the one to go the Heaviside Layer.
