This was positive and shapely playing with a firm sense of rhythm. Technique was mostly authoritative ¡V just a few blemishes in this performances and a need sometimes for a little more light and shade in the dynamics. There was much to enjoy though. This was confident playing.

There was a great deal to enjoy here in some very communicative playing. ATCL in Performance (Solo Piano) 25 NOV 2004

75-100 marks = Pass with Distinction
50-75 marks = Pass
0-49 marks = Below Pass

Bach: Predlude & Fugue in d minor WTC BKI
A lively and lucid performance of the prelude ~ maintaining a buoyant rhythmic flow, and concluding with a sonorous cadence. The fugue had some unevenness of tone which made it feel slightly jerky in manner. However, this was dignified playing - lossing accuracy just momentarily.

Haydn: Sonata in e minor, Hob XVI:34
Haydn with firm, bright tone - but never exaggorated or over-powering. There was a goold deal of nervous energy, and also some warm-hearted moments - especially appropriate to the second subject. The Adagio was expressively shaped. A relaxed, cantabile sound, followed by a tuneful Rondo - unhurried in its liveliness and accurate in detail.

Britten: Moderato & Nocturne
Despite small blemishes in arpeggio work (bar 17, 19), this was a bright and cleanly articulated performance, contrasted in mood from bar 42 and building a sonorous climax at bar 70. The Nocturne had a gentle flow and simplicity of expression. Carefully shaded playing.

Fluency and accuracy were generally well-developed.

"Cautious" reading ~ partially correct, but using a very limited dynamic range.

A relaxed, but 'professional' stage manner. The programme was varied, and supported by succinct, informative notes. The music was correctly timed.

A very perceptive ear in most tests.
