Re:  George Fritschler Memorial Scholarship of Mohawk Valley Chorus

Dear Vocal Music Teacher:

Wouldn’t you like to see one of your most talented vocal students receive a $500.00 scholarship with no strings attached ?  We urge you to assist one or more of your juniors or seniors to apply. The winner of the competition is  awarded $500.00 which may be used at the student’s discretion for future music education.

     Three stipulations must be met:

The student must be willing and able to perform at our classics concert at 7:30 PM on  Saturday, May 31, 2008 at Amsterdam High School,  Amsterdam, New York.

The student must reside in one of the seven counties encompassed by the MVC membership, namely: Hamilton, Fulton, Montgomery, Schoharie, Saratoga, Schenectady and Albany

A student who has been awarded the scholarship as a junior is ineligible to reapply.

Enclosed is one application (which may be copied for additional applicants), to be filled out and returned to Nancy L. VanDenburgh, 141 County Highway 142, Johnstown, New York 12095. The deadline for receiving applications is April 19, 2008.    The application must be accompanied by a cassette tape or CD of two songs, including one classical, and one lighter number; three letters of reference, one of which should be by a vocal music teacher.

The scholarship committee of MVC will review the applications and listen to the tapes. Finalists will be notified by May 12 and may be asked to sing at a live audition. The winner will be selected and informed the following week when further details about the concert will be explained.

Questions regarding the application procedure may be directed to Mrs. VanDenburgh at 762-3861 or by e-mail at     mrsvan@capital.net

Yours truly,

Nancy L. VanDenburgh
