Re:  George Fritschler Memorial Scholarship of Mohawk Valley Chorus

Dear Vocal Music Teacher:

Fifteen years ago, Mohawk Valley Chorus established a scholarship, open to high school juniors and seniors. The winner of the competition is awarded $500.00 which may be used at the student’s discretion for future music education.

     Three stipulations must be met:

the student must be willing and able to perform at our classics concert at 3:00 PM on  March 13, 2005 at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Amsterdam, New York;.

the student must reside in one of the seven counties encompassed by the MVC membership, namely: Hamilton, Fulton,  Montgomery, Schoharie, Saratoga, Schenectady and Albany

.a student who has been awarded the scholarship as a junior is ineligible to  reapply.

Enclosed is one application (which may be copied for additional applicants), to be filled out and returned to Nancy L. VanDenburgh, 141 County Highway 142, Johnstown, New York 12095. The deadline for receiving applications is January 30, 2005.   The application must be accompanied by a cassette tape or CD of two songs, including one classical, and three letters of reference, one of which should be by a vocal music teacher.

The scholarship committee of MVC will review the applications and listen to the tapes. Finalists will be notified by February 13, 2005 and asked to sing at a live audition. The winner will be selected and informed the following week when further details about the concert will be explained.

Questions regarding the application procedure may be directed to Mrs. VanDenburgh at 762-3861.

Yours truly,
