Attendance at all performances and rehearsals outside of class time is required. Because many of us have outside commitments, the calendar for each semester is handed out early. Please be sure to make all arrangements will in advance to accommodate everyone involved. Often we are asked to perform for special events on and off campus. In these cases, notification will be made as early as possible and your attendance is still required, Your grade is determined by your participation in both classroom rehearsals and outside rehearsals, performances and other scheduled events. Make sure to keep a current calendar with your choir and outside commitments.
EXCUSED/UNEXCUSED ABSENCES
Occasionally a student must miss an outside rehearsal or performance. In such cases, the following strict guidelines are in place:
Excused absences include illness, a death in the family, a performance, sporting event planned will in advance of the publication of the Vocal Music Department calendar.
Unexcused absences include, but are not limited to transportation issues, work, babysitting for family members or other children, family or social events, rehearsals or sports practices, doctor’s appointments, forgetfulness, and homework.
In all cases, the director must be notified of a planned or unplanned absence for outside activities.
To request an absence:
Complete a “Request for Absence form” at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled rehearsal or performance. These are available in the choir room at all times.
