Dreams are what lead us on,what keep us going through every day
And as we listened to the news that night,they all just faded away
One could say we took it for granted,what stood on Broadway until that time
In the Wintergarden Theatre,all those Cats did reside
We wanted to be one of them,we wanted to sing those songs
To dance in the footpaws of the great ones,to let the memory live on
Or others,just wanted to be there,to sit there in front of the stage
To hopefully catch a glimpse of Munkustrap sneaking between the seats
And wanted to go home happy,with 'Memory' stuck in your head,
Or dancing around on the sidewalk like Mungo and Rumpleteazer
Those were our dreams,and they will always be,because of what they said
Cats will live now and forever at the Wintergarden Theatre,we believed it until the news came
Cats will be closing,they said,as if without a heart beating inside
'Cause as those words were said,the Jellicles were on bided time
Too many Jellicles'free hearts were broken,as well as their hopes and dreams
Future Mistos,Boms and Deuteronomys would only be a memory
As well as the songs that we still sing,no one can forget
A tear will be shed before the time,but all of us still have to say goodbye
The decision is made,the deed is forever done
But all us Jellicles can do is promise to live with this memory in our hearts
We never have to say goodbye,for Cats may never live forever in the theatre,
But in the Jellicle hearts and souls of all that it touched
Remember is what we must do,and try to be strong when we hear Grizabella's song
Or see Mistoffelees prancing about on stage and Victoria when she introduces the Jellicle Ball
And Rum Tum Tugger's devilish hips bringing sheer delight to the kittens
Or Munkustrap's priceless expressions in the Pekes and the Pollicles song
Its going to hurt,and its going to make us feel empty inside
But whenever the Jellicle Moon shines bright
Remember the memory and never,ever forget
Munkustrap,Demeter,Mungojerrie,Skimbleshanks,Mistoffelees and all the rest...
So to all those Jellicles across the world
, Who longed to attend the Jellicle ball,
Who wished to slip on that slinky cat costume,and dance where our heroes did,
Or for the Jellicles that wanted to be there,in the audience of the Wintergarden,
That wanted to live the experience,instead of longingly watching on the TV
In memory of the cats that we watched from the stage,
In memory of the songs that touched us deep inside,
In memory of all the times that were,and all the could have been,
Every Jellicle asks you to keep Cats forever in your heart....
