One cold, winter day, during the year 2010, Janette Hart, an unemployed choreographer, was cleaning out her daughter's closet, helping her pack to move to her new apartment. While searching the boxes, Janette discovered a box containing old videos. Wondering what videos were in the box, she began to sort through it.
At the very bottom of the box was a plastic-encased video. Across the top it read, "CATS". Intrigued by the picture on the cover, Janette popped the video into her VCR. For the next two hours, she was swept up into a world of Jellicle cats.
As the movie ended, Janette felt an ache in her heart. She remembered the many people who had all shed tears when they found out CATS was leaving America, her daughter included. Now she understood why everyone loved it so much!
Spurred on with a new determination, Janette decided then and there to make a revival of the wonderful musical. She made a few calls, wrote a few letters, signed herself up as both director and choreographer, received the right to perform from the Really Useful Company, and headed off to schedule auditions....
Satisfied she had gotten the best possible cast, Janette headed for the theatre to meet her new group...
