Chanson D'Harlequin
Just before the morning breaks I lie and wonder:
"Will I ever show the real me?"
So here I come.
I'll paint a smile on my face that will make you laugh. I long for you to find joy with me as the amusing clown who stands before you because I know that you'll never look at me as a goddess of great beauty, for i'm not what you'd ever call lovely.
I'll amuse you with a quick witt and antics that will bring you such entertainment. As long as I can hide behind my jokes, you'll never have to take notice of my true feelings, for I've always been painfully shy.
Listen to my song on the lute. let the jingling of the bells on my shoes & my jester's hat lif your spirits. Please ignore me when I whisper what's in my heart, for I'd be embarrassed ever so much if you heard.
Watch me juggle clubs in the air in my multicolored motely but never look in my eyes, for they'd betray me once you saw them wet with tears.
You'd never look past the paint and costume to see the girl behind them & I'd never be so bold as to open up enough to let you find her.
I truly am a fool.
