In this 4-Disc set, the story of one of America's great rock and roll bands is told as never before. At the heart of the package is "Runnin' Down A Dream," a film directed by cinema legend Peter Bogdanovich. Tracking Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers from their Gainesville beginnings to their 30th anniversary celebration, Runnin' Down A Dream is the hard-hitting account of a band that became a family and, along the way, left a body of work that is among the richest deposits in American musical history.

My Comments:

This documentary was released to celebrate the 30 year history of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, but - as the film reveals - the history of the band goes back long before the release of their 1976 debut album.

With archival footage and photographs as well as newly filmed pieces and interviews with the people have been a part of or simply touched by the greatness that is Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
