What is Marching Band?

Webster's Dictionary defines a marching band as "A group of musicians that march in time with the music being played. Traditionally, marching bands were military in nature. Today, however, marching is a sport/art form engaged in primarily by high school and college students, as well as by adults and middle school students."

To many people, however, marching band is so much more than that...

To senior Lisa Atherton...

marching band means "camradarie, friendship, dedication, [and is a] creative and emotional outlet. [It also means] physical endurance."

To senior Dannie Vo...

marching band is a "family and a collection of nerds."

To senior Dannie Vo...

marching band means "countless hours of practice, to show everyone that attitude makes winners. Since we don't have many people that take private lessons and stuff in our band, it means more when we win, because we know that we have to work harder than most schools, and use what we can to win."
