Sargeist
Satanic Black Devotion
Moribund Cult Records

The most precious quality of Satanic metal groups is a sharp sense of humor. When taking a gander at the cover of Satanic Black Devotion, there’s some promise the death-lovin’ rascals in Sargeist have prepared a delightful treat. Not only is the lead singer grimacing and holding a human skull, the disclaimer on the back warns, “Attempt to sell and the razor will greet your flesh!” Sadly, Finland’s heir to the throne of Beezlebub hasn’t cooked up anything worth chuckling over. Perhaps they actually are undead soldiers of Satan, but if they’re not, they have some explaining to do.

Appeared in the November 2003 issue of Rockpile magazine.
