Save Our House
We're doing a fundraiser to help with restore/repair or rebuild a 150 year home.
It was damaged by heavy rains a few summers ago. Since that time, there were ice dams that did additional damage. Currently the owner is unemployed and have been looking for work. They have been without a steady job since 1999. During this time, they have been laid off a number of times. This family has checked with various charitable agencies for help and all agencies have refused because of the scope of the work that needs to be done. Also, they do a lot of charitable work themselves with the various local community groups.
The following needs to replaced or repaired or rebuilt:
Roof - the old roof is cedar shakes and needs to be replaced,
Gutters needs to replaced.
Siding - A few years ago, the owner poured in installation.
Heating - the oil furnace now has problems
Drywall and windows. The old walls are wood lathe and needs to be redone.
Estimates vary due to additional boards that need to replaced. Current estimates for just main house to be roofed is approximately $6,500. However most companies want the whole house to be reroofed for about approximately $20,000. Siding estimates is approximately $6000 for the main house and about $20,000 for the whole house. Also included in the siding estimates to replace any boards so the house is structurally sound. Estimates for the heating is about $14,000 to $20,000. because the house never had central heating or air and thus needs ductwork. Drywall is about $500 to $1000 a wall.

All monies received will be applied first to the roof and drywall. Since they are the main concerns.
