Pastor Troy: That’s about making all of Georgia feel affiliated with Pastor Troy and the whole movement. My fan base is a cult following, I got my Down South Georgia Boys and my Down South Georgia Girls, it’s everyone getting down with me, it’s all love. In fact you don’t even necessarily have to be from Georgia to be a D.S.G.B. I got D.S.G.B.’s out your way, you ever heard of Jon Rex?
T: Speak on your early No Limit diss track ‘No Mo Play in G.A.’ ?
PT: That was a big record for me, I was slanging CD’s out my trunk. Much love to P, much respect on what he does but I was trying to get in this game too. He was just on top of the game right there (‘98). We were saying fuck whoever, we were trying to get in. I just wanted people to say Master P done made his money it’s time for some new people to get in this thing. We did a good job, a lot of people felt me.
T: And what’s the deal with Miracle and Drama?
PT: Those cats were trying to sound like me straight off, just bitin. They disappeared is what happened to Miracle and Drama, where they at? There shit ain’t comin out.
T: You been messin’ with Timbo lately right, we heard that your in on the beef with JD, that you did a cut?
PT: That’s on my album, the ‘Universal Soldier’ album.
T: What’s the name of the cut?
PT: The name of the cut is ‘Tell Em It’s On’. Representing for Atlanta is more than saying you do this, putting on a Braves jersey, a Braves hat. Atlanta means more to me than that. Those boys be representing that shit outside of Atlanta. They be screaming that Atlanta shit because Atlanta's popular right now, but I am Atlanta.
T: You’re saying those cats don’t rep it like that?
PT: Man, that’s how they do it, you know how the game go. It sounds good, it sells. ‘Welcome to Atlanta’ where the playas play, ain't none them a player. I was working with Timbaland before I worked with Jermaine. Me and Jermaine probably live 15 minutes away from each other, that’s crazy.
T: Is there plex?
PT: I ain’t got the player plex, it’s hood plex.
T: Street plex.
PT: They ain’t shit.
T: Your pops is a preacher man, is he cool with everything?
PT: He real cool. It ain’t like we just sit up and smoke a bag and listen to Pastor Troy CDs, or no shit like that. He just proud for his son and what I’m doing for down South Georgia boys. It’s easy to get fucked-up in jail or whatever.
T: You think you picked up any of his style in how you bust?
PT: I picked up a lot of his leadership qualities that I’m very proud of, he’s a real man.
