September News
9.21.03Well, Aberdeen was a freaking blast, and we happened to win the battle of the bands to boot. we got to party with some people we hadn't seen in a long time and play with some cool bands and have a really damn good time. we hope to get back there as soon and as often as possible. i love aberdeen. thank you, landon, chuck, rob, dunker, tanya, and everyone else. unfortunatly, dick travis was m.i.a.
9.18.03We're playing at ralph's tomorrow (friday) night with venus in furs, mag 4, and strong like bear. we're last, so we don't go on until at least midnite. check it out if you can. also, we are playing saturday in aberdeen, sd for a battle of the bands, which i am very excited about cuz i have some friends in aberdeen that i haven't seen since the "10 Lbs. Big" days. Also, our van is fully licensed, insured, and street legal, so if you see it, get the hell out of the way, because it's probably dale driving. it's the one with the big bomb on the hood, just so you know.
9.09.03The Battle of the Hamms was fun. I feel that we played pretty well, even though we came in dead last on votes. We rule, I guess. Congratulations to Green Fog Vigilante, who took home the ultimate prize: 240 cans of cool, refreshing Hamms beer, made from the finest stuff on earth. Lost for Cause absolutely rocked the shit out of everyone in attendance. If you haven't had a chance to check those guys out, do so. They are quickly climbing the ranks to be recognized as one of Fargo's finest. Awesome musicianship, awesome songs, and a stocking-footed guitar player that never ceases to amaze with his stage presence--how could you go wrong?
9.05.03The Battle of the Hamms is upon us. Many bands will play and one band will win. However, it's a sure bet that many bands will get drunk, because this particular "battle" event was set up with one purpose in mind--whichever band wins has 240 beers to share with all of the other bands. Kind of makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside. And drunk. In other news, the lyrics for the new song are up. It's called "this rain on my car is a baptism." We think it's a pretty good song. You'll hear it tomorrow nite if you go to the battle. And if you don't, we probably don't like you. I did some massive overhauling on the site as well. I figured out how to make all the pictures smaller, which is good. They were way too big before. Also, there are more merch pictures up. We just got a new style of tank top too, and they look pretty cool. Maybe I'll put a picture up. Maybe not, though, because I'm very lazy. See you tomorrow.
9.02.03This weekend was pretty rad. I hate that word. Anyway, we played in a garage on Friday--owned by the singer/guitarist of Ortonville's own "Eight Dollar Outfit" who are sounding pretty good these days. They've added some originals to their set that are pretty damn good. "I Shot Ronald Reagan" came down from Fergus Falls and rocked the garage along with us. I got a copy of their CD, and it's badass. You should check out their site--it's on our links page. Download some of their mp3s--you'll like 'em. Anyway, somewhere in the neighborhood of 50 people showed up at this show, which was right in the middle of town, and music went on until about 2 am, but the cops never showed up. I don't get it either. Saturday night's show in Odessa was a lot of fun, and had a pretty good turn out--over 100 people showed up, so that was cool. Also, Lost for Cause completely schooled every band that played, messing with texas included. They were a tough act to follow, and then we played pretty crappy besides. Add a crappy PA head and mikes that constantly cut out and you have for a really horrible sounding show that was still really really fun. We made a small fortune this weekend. Enough to pay for more than half of our van, which we bought yesterday. I will put up a photo soon. We haven't named her yet, but it'll come to us.
