8.28.03Well, well, well. The Ortonville show is upon us. MWTX, Lost for Cause and Ortonville's own Eight Dollar Outfit will rock the Odessa firehall in Odessa, MN this Saturday nite. So I guess it's not really an Ortonville show, but it's very close to Ortonville. Also, we are playing in Wheaton (36 miles north of Ortonville) tomorrow nite, being Friday. Should make for a fun weekend. Everyone is welcome to join us on the "2003 Traverse/Big Stone County Tour." We can find places for everyone to sleep in Ortonville if anyone is looking to get out of town for the weekend. We might just camp or something, we're not really sure at this point. My dad owns some land a few miles outside Ortonville where we could throw up some tents and have a bonfirein' drinkin' campin' good time. Similar to the Nate and Sara party but probably not nearly as awesome. Anyway, give me (erik) a call at 287-0653 or shoot me an e-mail at erikblock@hotmail.com if you're interested in coming to Ortonville for the weekend. Some of you (Chad, Skull, Leif, etc.) have already experienced Ortonville, and I think it's safe to say that everyone had a good time. Let's do it again. If nothing else, at least we can eat at Pizza Ranch. That shit is tasty.
8.16.03This weekend was so awesome. Those who were there know what I mean, and those who weren't will have to listen to the rest of us talk about how great it was....that's just the way it goes. All of the bands were awesome and played superbly. Neverwill blew everyone away as per usual, Lost for Cause sounded amazing and put on an especially energetic show, Quietus played probably the best show of their unfortunately short career, When Something Fails whipped the crowd into a screaming sweaty frenzy and even busted out the old favorite "Distance Ruins Everything"--a classic from the Deslauriers age. Black Print from Chicago showed everyone that they didn't come to f### around. The list goes on and on. I guess I could also mention the fact that we played quite likely the best (in terms of fun and crowd response at least) show of our career thus far. Everybody sang along and it was just plain awesome. God bless putting out a CD and then playing local shows after everyone has given it a few spins and can sing along. There are few feelings in the world that are greater than that. i want to personally, and on behalf of messing.with.texas thank every single person that attended Sara and Nate's going away party. It will be sad to see them go, but what a way to send them off. That is all for now.
8.07.03Looks like I haven't updated the news for a week or so. Sorry about that. We've had a lot of shows lately and they've all been really cool. The merch has been selling fairly well, although the girly shirts aren't doing as well as I had expected. I think they're pretty cool, and at only $5 each, they're a damn steal. I'll try to get pictures of the girl shirts and the thongs and all of the other merch up soon. Also, we have a batch of blue girly shirts with white lettering that are on sale for $3 each, as they are slightly imperfect--the ink bled a little, that's all. Our next show (for now anyway) will be Nate Wanzek's going away party the weekend of Aug 15 & 16. I don't really have any info about that yet, but I'll update the "shows" page as soon as I know a little more about it.
