Chapter One: Some MTV airtime and a BIIIG surprise for Nsync and BSB fans. WARNING: M/M sex suggested.

A call had come into MTV’s main office that morning from Justin Timberlake himself. He had something to share with the fans, and he wanted to do it live with the assistance of Carson Daly. So now Carson was knocking on Justin’s hotel room door, a cameraman standing a few feet away. A bodyguard let the two men into the living room of the suite.

“Have a seat. Mr. Timberlake will be right out.”

“Thanks, man.” Carson sat in one of the navy velvet chairs and looked around the room, wondering why he had been summoned here. A door at the other end of the room opened, Justin came sauntering into the room wearing only a pair of jeans.

“Carson, thanks for coming.” Justin offered the VJ a hand.

“Not a problem, so what’s up?”

“I got some stuff to get off my chest and now seems the perfect time for it.” Justin smiled.

“And you wanted a live interview, specifically with me, for some stuff?” Carson knew there had to be more to this.

“We saw you at Harlequin, and we knew you’d be more sympathetic to our cause, as it were.” Kevin Richardson was standing in the doorway that Justin had just exited, buttoning up a black shirt. He smirked at the look of shock on Carson’s face. “How’s it going Carson?”

“What were you guys doing in Harlequin?” Carson blurted out. Harlequin was a private, members only club for gay men. Kevin raised an eyebrow and Justin snorted.

“Talking, dancing, making out.” Kevin moved to stand near Justin. “Baby, you might want to put a shirt on before we go on the air, which will be in about fifteen minutes.”

“Why put clothes on when you’re just gonna get me naked again?” Justin grumbled as he left the room. Carson watched him go, his brain still processing what was going on.

“You two are a couple?”

“Brilliant deduction, Mr. Daly.” Kevin’s smile was back.

“And you....you saw me at Harlequin?” Kevin heard the fear in Carson’s voice.

“Yeah, about a week ago. But don’t worry - we won’t out you, just ourselves.”

“God, Kevin - this is huge. How can you be so casual about it?”

“Justin and I are both tired of hiding what we feel.” Kevin sat down on the couch. “We want to be honest with our fans, especially in light of certain upcoming events.”

“Angel Face, don’t give away all of our secrets just yet.” Justin was back, wearing a t-shirt that read As a matter of fact, the world does revolve around me. He settled on the couch next to his lover.

“Eight minutes until we go live.” The cameraman said quietly, responding to the feed from the home studio in his earpiece.

“Shit.” Carson turned to his cameraman. “Mike, what you just heard - you can’t...”

“You can trust me to keep my mouth shut.” The veteran MTV staff member assured the VJ. Mollified, Carson turned back to Kevin and Justin.

“Are you two sure you want to do this? Your fans are gonna go ballistic.”

“We’re completely sure.” Justin interlaced his fingers with Kevin’s as he spoke. “We figure we’ll probably lose some fans, but most of them will remain loyal.”

“Look at how many of them read slash fanfics.” Kevin laughed.

“How can you guys be so casual about this?” Carson asked again.

“Because we’re happy to finally be telling the truth.” Justin told him.

“One minute,” Mike intoned.

“Here we go, baby.” Kevin was smiling. Justin squeezed his hand.

“And in 5....4....” Mike counted down the last few seconds on his fingers.

“This is Carson Daly coming to you live from a New York City hotel suite. With me are Kevin Richardson of the Backstreet Boys and Justin Timberlake of Nsync.” Carson turned to the two singers. “Gentlemen, you have something very important to share with your fans so I”ll let you get right to that.”

“Both of our groups have made it a policy to always be honest with our fans.” By mutual agreement, Kevin spoke first. “And its in the spirit of complete honesty that we asked for some airtime today.”

“Kevin and I want you all to know that we are gay and that we’ve been in love with each other for three years.”

“The most important thing that we want all of you out there to understand is that we are still the same musicians you’ve been listening to and watching for years.” Kevin continued the statement that he and Justin had written together. “We still have the same desire to perform and entertain that we always have.”

“We hope that you all appreciate our honesty and that you continue to enjoy the music of both Nsync and the Backstreet Boys.”

“While the world absorbs this revelation, do you mind if I ask you a few questions?” Carson’s own head was still reeling, he could only imagine how fans of the two groups were reacting.

“That is why we asked you here, Carson.” Justin smiled.

“First of all, how have your families reacted to your romance? Justin, you especially are known for being close to your mother.”

“I’ve known I was gay since I was 14 and my mother was the first person I came out to.” Justin ran a hand over his close cropped curls. “She knows that Kevin makes me happy and she’s all for whatever makes me happy.”

“And what about your family, Kevin?”

“My family accepts me for who I am and they’re glad I found a nice southern boy to settle down with.” Kevin’s free hand patted Justin’s thigh.

“And what about your respective bandmates?”

“Brian, Nick, Howie, and AJ are behind me 100%.” Kevin inched closer to Justin. “They do tease me about the age difference, but its all in good fun.”

“All your fans know how religious your cousin is. Your being gay doesn’t bother Brian?”

“Brian prayed about my sexuality and he came to the conclusion that God is not going to condemn me to hell for loving someone.” The hard glint in Kevin’s eyes told Carson this subject was closed.

“What about your bandmates, Justin?”

“They all think Kevin is cool.” The Memphis born singer smiled. “I think they’re still hoping that some of Kevin’s maturity will rub off on me.”

“Just how did the two of you get together?”

“Remember that big music festival in Jamaica back in 99?” Justin asked. When Carson nodded, Justin continued. “A minor hurricane blew in. Nsync and BSB were stuck there for three days.”

“Justin and I took the opportunity to get to know each other a lot better.” Justin leaned against Kevin, the sound of the older man’s voice making him melt as always. Kevin let go of Justin’s hand and slid his own to the inside of Justin’s lower thigh.

“What about the women in your life?” Carson questioned. “Justin, you had a high profile romance with Britney Spears ane you, Kevin, have been reported to have an on and off girlfriend for years now.”

“Britney was a coverup that Jive forced me into.” Justin ran a hand up and down Kevin’s arm.

“Kristin is a close friend who helped me out from time to time.” Kevin smiled. “It was never anything more, obviously.”

“And neither woman minded being used like that?”

“Britney better not, since I was covering for her too.”

“Oh shit.” Kevin muttered.

“OK, I’m being signaled that we need to go to some commercials. We’ll be back with Kevin and Justin in a few minutes.” As soon as Mike signaled that they were off, Carson turned on Justin. “Jesus Christ, Timberlake - you’re gonna get us all killed.”

“I’m not sorry.” Justin made a face. “You have no idea what that bitch has put us through. Blackmailing slut.”

“One of the reasons we are coming out is so that she won’t have anything to hold over Justin’s head anymore.” Kevin told Carson. “Little Miss Spears doesn’t like to spend her own money.”

“Still, as vindictive as she is - we’re all going to pay for that comment.” Carson saw Mike signaling and he turned to the camera just in time. “And we are back. Gentlemen, just before the break - Justin mentioned your record company. Do you think they will tyr to punish you in any way for coming out? Maybe by shelving your solo project Justin?”

“Funny you should mention that project.” Justin looked at Kevin, who gave him a reassuring squeeze. “I haven’t actually been working on a solo CD. Kevin and I have been working on a CD together.”

“Jive wanted it kept a secret until we released the first single.” Kevin added.

“We’ve got about 20 tracks laid down, a very eclectic song mix.” Justin was obviously excited. “We’re shooting a video in early August and plan on releasing the single and the video in early September.”

“Jive has even agreed to let us tour together this fall.” Kevin was smiling at Justin. “But before all that, Backstreet will be participating in this year’s Challenge for the Children.”

“Wow - so there’s really a lot for the fans to look forward to.” Carson managed a smile. “Gentlemen, this has probably been the most interesting interview of my life but I’m afraid our time is up.” Carson turned to the camera. “This has been Carson Daly, along with Justin Timberlake and Kevin Richardson. I’m sure we’ll be hearing a lot more about this story in the days and weeks to come.”
