First comes the subject, it sounds in the tonic key of F,
Then comes the answer, it sounds in the dominant key of C,
and then very soon repeats the pattern.
First the subject sounds, it sounds in the tonic key of F,
And then C, and the answer sounds in the dominant key of C.
An episode, episode, episode, episode to another key for contrast.
Now in D minor the theme has a slightly different flavor.
One little motive imitated, back to the main theme,
Again it is in a minor key we sing, of course we sing
We sing some more episodic notes, we sing some more episodic notes
We sing along in a sequence, still, we're still in a minor key.
And now the tune is inverted, the notes are the same but upside down,
the notes are inverted, notes are inverted.
The head of the lovely subject turned in a way to reach the key of G!
G minor stretto, and then a final episode.
We must get back to the key of F
but we are stuck in the key of G
We shall return in a sequence.
Now it's near, it's here!
We are into F for a coda,
a coda codetta with augmentation. Ah!
