Christoffer Welteson

Review by Mickale a.k.a. Dizz: Generally I like this band, I think that they have some real potential. I found there sound to be a little to strong for me occasional but did not determine the musical content to be the problem. I think this band could greatly improve their sound with the use of a better mastering equipment such as: a gate and a compressor. This will keep certain sounds from drowning out others and should help their tracks from clipping during the recording process. I really enjoyed the diverse sounds in their tracks. I've noticed that some bands make a song they like and them model a whole bunch more after it. This can leave everything on the CD sounding very similar, and bore the listener. This band showed definite musical style while avoiding the problem of similar tracks all together. They got their musical idea in place and went on to the next. ABOUT SONG #1: ALL'S WELL THAT ENDS - This has to be my favorite song of the bunch. I like how Christoffer combined that 80's feel in vocals with today's more distorted guitar. Also that snappy beat, wonderful little ticky little high hat & techno melody kept the song moving. Also I simply loved the bass guitar riff and the effects on the vocals. The atmospheric sounds added a rather nice touch too, I would say. Though it was kinda hard to hear to lyrics with the amount reverb on the vocals, I still enjoyed the music and liked what I could hear of the lyrics. If I were to say anything bad about this song I have to say it was saturated in some parts and that the placement of the bass drum through me off in a few places. I have included a downloadable, 'Christoffer Welteson EQ' and will have a 'Christoffer Welteson EQ Read Me' file coming soon. This EQ can be used by those of you with 'Winamp' in effort to try and avoid that crunchy overdriven sound that comes from a song clipping (an adverse effect that happens in the recording process) in your speakers. At 3min. 17secs. it's a worthy listen. Christoffer Welteson classifies this song as 'New Wave'. This song is 3.01MB to Download. ABOUT SONG #2: ASIS - I liked the little swishy sound at the beginning and love that enormous metallic factory sound. The drums were a lot better in this song and the beyond distorted guitar was nicely offset by a pretty little electronic ditty. The samples were a nice surprise and threw things up a little. The second climax was almost masterful with the addition of the second guitar riff over all that distortion and noise and I love the way it lingered on and cycled through till the song was nearly done ending back to that nifty little swishy sound at the beginning. Bravo! If I had to say anything bad about this song, I would say that the distortion and noise did overpower most of the other sounds during the climax periods and made them hard to hear. Also, I'm not sure what that seven seconds of silence before the song began was all about? Generally though, it is a very cool instrumental. Christoffer Welteson classifies this song as 'Industrial Rock', Label: Ultra-Blasphemy. This song is 4.9MB to download, 5min. 24secs to listen to. ABOUT SONG #3: GROSS INFINITY 5-6-03 - This song is short! The metallic factory sound should sound familiar, I think it was in 'Asis' as well. No matter to me though, that seemed to be the only resemblance between the two. The vocals were a lot more clear in this song, I was able to hear the lyrics and I Liked Them! The crunchy-distorted guitar in the background added some atmosphere and again the distorted guitar in the foreground went very nicely with the techno melodies set from middle through the end of this song. If had any complaints at all about this song it would be that it was TOO SHORT! When the song ended I really didn't expect it, but then again it was just a spin off. Christoffer Welteson classifies this song as, 'Industrial' and states it as, "A bastard child of Asis...". This song is 2.24 MB to download, 2min. 26secs to listen to. ABOUT SONG #4: SOME TIME (DIRTY) - I didn't expect this song, after hearing the other three but it did not disappoint and was a nice change-up. The chimes and the piano were very mellowing but the swishes and inserts of noise made sure you didn't get to comfortable and foreshadowed something more. The samples were aptly placed and a nice way to set everything off. The general beat of this song sounded very tribal to me and surprisingly went very well with everything else. The use of synthesized sounds more into the song also gave everything this futuristic and the same time exotic sort of coating. Also leaving the piano in during this time period was a very good move in my opinion since it helped keep things somewhat organized. If I had to say anything bad about this song it would be that the larger distorted beats sometimes crunched my speakers. Generally I felt that this was a very relaxing and yet trippy song and I like it. Christoffer Welteson classifies this song as 'Experimental'. This song is 6.44 MB to download, 7min. 2sec. to listen to.
