Words of Wisdom and Other Observations
The following is a set of observations and general statements about life in my own words. Contributions welcome.
Counsel and advice
- Often, you'll better achieve a target by focusing on the target rather than the projectile.
- The world conspires against a man who has not set aside enough time to get where he's going.
- You can't go home again, but you don't have to forget.
- A wise man may consider an opponent's position without changing his own, but a foolish man refuses to listen.
Platitudes and aphorisms
- Every process is a bit like a recipe. Certain steps must always precede others, and the time it takes always involves adapting to natural phenomena.
- It is only when a man believes in something greater than himself that he will allow harm to come to himself without being broken; however, faith will fail if the object of faith may be removed, hurt or discredited.
- If ever you feel like you're doing all the work, remember: you probably are not, since you seldom see how much others are doing at the same time, and if you do your best without complaining, you will be commended eventually.
- If you say or do something unique, and someone else notices, you have changed the world today, even though you may never know just how much.
Life lessons
- "Practice makes perfect" implies consistency and the proper approach.
- Better to do something a little unpleasant now, and be happy later, than to do only the pleasant things and be unhappy later.
- Far better it is to lose control to Jesus Christ than to seek to satisfy oneself, obey every whim, and come up empty every time!
