Reprise (9 42420-2)
Release Date: November 20, 2001
Enya's single for "Only Time" was released after September 11, and proceeds from the sales of the single went to the International Association of Firefighters. The first track on this single is the remix of "Only Time" that helped to get the song played on pop radio. All this remix basically does is "punch up" the percussion of the original track in order to make the song more "pop friendly"; however, the spirit behind the song still remains as strong as it does in the original recording.
The second track on the single is "Oiche Chiun (Silent Night)," which is a Gaelic version of the traditional Christmas carol, "Silent Night." While this song has been available on its own single every Christmas for a number of years, it makes a great addition to the "Only Time" single. Enya recorded a beautiful rendition of this song, and I get chills down my spine every time I hear it.
The last track on the single is "Willows On The Water," which is a mid-tempo instrumental piece that features piano and strings. I really like the sound of the song, and thought it was a great way to close out the single.
In my opinion, this single does an excellent job of capturing all the facets of Enya's music (her English vocals, her Gaelic vocals, and her instrumentals). I would highly recommend this single to an Enya fan and/or collector, and I would also encourage people who heard and liked the remix version of "Only Time" to pick it up as well. This single would also make a good introduction to someone who is not very familiar with Enya's music.
