Ginuwine was born Elgin Baylor Lumpkin on October 15, 1975(due to industry practices, G's age is questionable) in Washington, DC. G began performing at an early age and in the 80s teamed up with his brother, St. James III and some friends to form the group Finesse Five. Ginuwine briefly performed with a DC band, Physical Wonder until he was discovered by Jodeci member Devante Swing. In 1996 Ginuwine made his debut with the single "Pony" off his premier album, The Bachelor. At his mother's urging, Ginuwine pursued a Paralegal degree at Prince George's Community College with the realization that G should have something to fall back on. The success of the single "Pony" was followed up with the heavy rotation of "Tell Me Do U Wanna", "I'll Do Anything", and "Only When U R Lonely".The success of G's first album was followed up with his 1999 sophomore effort, 100% Ginuwine. The sophmore curse definitely did not stike G with his second album enjoying much success thanks to singles "What's So Different", "So Anxious" and "None of UR Friends Business" and the dazzling stage performance that has become synonymous with the name Ginuwine. Both The Bachelor and 100% Ginuwine have been certified Double Platinum. Ginuwine's third effort has definitely been a charm. The Life was released in 2001 and according to G is the album that come closest to mirroring him as a person. The loss of both his parents and the depression he battled afterwards encouraged G to open up his innermost feelings, the depths of which can be heard on the track 2 Reasons I Cry. The album as a whole is not a divergence from the bump and grind crooning that characterizes Ginuwine's style. The first single "There It Is", was followed up by the ballad "Differences" which is currently enjoying heavy radio and video play. Diddy and the Family Present: This Is the Remix. The album is set to drop May 7th so MAKE SO YOU COP IT and look out for the single. | G IN SISTER 2 SISTER | Ginuwine is on the cover of March's Sister 2 Sister magazine! There's also an interview inside along with a few more sexy pictures. Diddy aka Sean Puffy Combs announced that him and Ginuwine will be shooting Part 2 to his new song "I Need A Girl". The video shoot is scheduled for this weekend and is taking place in Release Miami. "I Need A Girl (Part 1)" features Puffy and Usher. So, lookout for the video dropping in the near future. I'm sure G will light it up with some HOT dance moves! | JUWANNA MAN? | Release for Juwanna Man is scheduled for May 10, 2002. The long-awaited film star Miguel Nunez and Vivica Fox. Ginuwine will be making his film debut in the film where he plays the character Romeo, a philandering r&b singer. Lil' Kim also has a supporting role in the flick.
