My favourite games of all time are :-
Multiplayer games -
DMC/Quake - Easilly the most addictive and fun action FPS I have ever played. All who read this knows why
Starcraft Broodwar - Extremely well balanced, addictive and great gameplay RTS which is addictive in similar ways to DMC/Quake. 1on1 is very comparable to a DMC 1on1, you can play it tactically, aggressively, defensively etc.. each battle between each unit is like a DMC battle, positional play and movement being so important. This game is also the most difficult I've ever played. It was the first game I ever played online and I have been playing it regularly longer than any other game. (since 1999).
Soul Calibur 2 - The best fighting game I have ever played.. and I am a big fighting game player. I have a lot of experience with Street Fighter games, capcom/SNK, X-men/Marvel and Tekken games (i think Dead or Alive and Virtua Fighter suck). When i first played Soul Calibur 2 I had never played SC1 or Soul Edge (although I had seen it in arcades). At first I prefered Tekken but SC2 has since invaded my heart and it is now by far my favourite fighting game. Words can't describe.
Single player games:-
Final Fantasy 7 - Most people who play games have played this masterpiece. It was the first game I addmitted to being addicted to.. or more, the first game I loved everything about and wanted to play all the time. That lasted over a year and a half. (its single player ffs!). I have probably completed it 10 times through by now, one of the coolest/most touching stories I have some across including books I have read.
Theif:Deadly Shadows:-
Underrated IMO. Fantastically involving. I got this game at a time where I had just bought hl2 and doom3 and had yet to play them much. This game stole me for a couple of months dispite these other games, and halted any play of Quake/starcraft during this time. Really good but difficult to explain why... immersive.
DMC talk
Started DMC: October 2001 started messing around with it. November 2001 started playing hardcore.
Some DMC preferences and info:
I don't like servers with fast walking movement, I like low grav but I don't play it.
I dislike the white ends on DMC pro rockets =]
I don't use the hook, and if I play on a hook server I RJ as usual.
I started clan PFC and run the Tayste DMC website of course ;p
I most enjoy playing DMC in the following ways -
TRICK JUMPING -
I have found the limits of my own capabilities as a player, and achieved most of the things I thought of doing or ever aspired to do. I began by working on my consistency at doing single acceleration jumps, bunnyhopping came fairly naturally for me. I didn't start working on my rocket jumping for about 2 years, of which I have now mastered it to the limits of my own ability. Although there is much room for improvement in my opinion, i seriously doubt that I will be able to improve upon myself. I can safely say im at my limit.. =[
DUEL -
I enjoy all the popular duel maps, these are some of my faves - Aerowalk, ztndm3, dm4, dm6.
My least favourite duel maps are pkeg1 and dm2, although i'll still happily play them.
Dueling is something that everyone in DMC can improve upon. There is no limit, and I shall continue to improve.
FFA -
I most enjoy FFA with 3 or 4 other players who I find challenging. Dm2 is one of my favourite (but don't like it very much in duel) and of course dm3 is excellent. In my opinion ztndm3 was made for dueling and isn't a very good ffa map. I dislike it because of the amount of spam, which of course I contribute to I’ll admit, but I prefer maps where you don't explode the instant you spawn. Some people think this of dm4 and Dcdm5, but dm4 isn't as hard to lock down as ztndm3 (for me at least), and doesn't suffer as much spam, and I agree that dcdm5 is the ultimate spam map, however I find it far easier to keep locked down.. hmm.. Ztn is just a hard FFA map =]
RA -
My favourite RA map is Torrent followed by ra_arena1 (the circular one with a trap unleashing 4 big spikes) I like most maps but povdmm4 is sometimes overplayed (I find it an extremely boring map).
TDM -
2v2 is my favourite TDM, my favourite 2v2 maps are - dm2 and dm6, e1m2 is a classic though =]
