Driving at highway speeds without the top was still a new sensory experience for us and we quickly acquired some sun- and wind-burn. But the weather was glorious and the old road was very much like it had been thirty years before…except now the traffic was 100 yards to our right on the interstate. So few cars passed us that we began to wonder where the road would dead end.
One of the rules of the trip, if it could be said we had any, was that we were to eat mostly at Mom-and-Pop restaurants rather than at fast food or chain restaurants. So when we saw the Old 66 Family Restaurant in Dwight it was a natural place to stop for breakfast.
