My Christmas gift to you: a year's worth of Wisdom

Since I can't track you all down to send you tins of my famous cookies (and couldn't afford the postage anyhow)...I figured I should give the gift of knowledge...a year worth of stuff I learned. And, yeah, here's the cookie recipe too.
Heavenly Chocolate Chip Cookies
1/2 cup softened margarine
2/3 cup shortening
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup brown sugar, packed
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
3 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1- 12 oz. package semi-sweet chips

Cream margarine and shortening until smooth. Beat in eggs, sugars, and vanilla; mix until well-blended. Gradually add flour, salt, and baking soda. When well-blended, fold in chocolate chips. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls unto ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 375 F for 8 but no longer than 10 minutes. These cookies will be golden brown in spots. Even if they look underdone, do not cook them for longer than 10 minutes--they will settle into perfection.
As a variation, these are also good made with white chocolate chips.
