Updates, Explanations, Etc.

Hey
Hi
Yo

I just found out that a year later, the reeds I used in my final semester of college are still fine. Of course, I've only played less than a dozen times since I graduated. Last summer's circumstances were not conducive to oboe-ing, and I am still hesitant to practice in the apartment because the walls are so thin that I can hear it when my neighbor gets out of bed. Hence, no wear and tear on my reeds.
Still, whenever I do pick up my oboe, I remember how much I love(d) it. As much as pawning the oboe to help pay off the credit card sometimes seems appealing, I get sad thinking of it.
There is good news for me as an oboist in Westfield, though. Reeds at the local music shop (Performance Music) cost only about $8, as opposed to the $10+ I had to pay in Worcester. Also, the Performance Music people own a coffee house next to the shop, which is wicked hip and hosts poetry readings every Monday and hosts music of all kinds too. It's called Jester's and it's worth going to even if only for the yummy awesome sandwiches--most named after musicians or songs (like the Ringo Starr, the Satchmo, or the Green Eyed Lady).

In other news, I now have an affiliate program. For a few months, I have had no money of my own because I am still not employed. It's pretty lame when the money is tight and I'm nearly getting DT's because I haven't been to a Claire's Accessories since the last of the snow melted. I figured that this was worth trying.
Please, if you are going to buy from Giardinelli Music, do it through my site. It costs you no more, and takes only a minute more. If you do this, I get a nice kickback. Help a sister musician out. They have wicked sweet prices on reeds too...so check that out.
