Relative Strangers

This is a recording that has been years in the writing, and the past six months in the recording. It is a reflection of some of the many sides of me, and is intended to mean little else. I simply wanted to put some of my songs on record for the rest of the world to enjoy. I hope you find it as emotionally moving as I did when I wrote and recorded it.

All guitars, vocals, drums, bass and any other noises on this recording performed by Michael Alan.

Recorded and engineered by King Carley. Produced and mixed by King Carley and Michael Alan @ Carley studios, Palos Hills, IL

No animals were harmed during the making of this recording, although King’s cat is a little hard of hearing now.

Michael Alan uses and abuses: Ibanez guitars, ESP guitars, C.F. Martin acoustic guitars, Carlo Robelli basses, ProMark drumsticks, Pappy’s bass, Joe’s cymbals, King’s drums, Dunlop “Big Stubby” picks, D’Addario strings, Fender amps, Peavey amps, Digitech electronics, Morley pedals, Icehouse beer, Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey, Camel cigarettes, Mead notebooks and Bic pens. Why does that matter? I don’t know, I just thought I should mention it.

This album is dedicated in loving memory of Donnie Grotts.

The men on the cover of this project are (l-r): my great-grandfather Stanley, my grandfather Chester Charles Sr., and my great-uncle Victor – my relative strangers.
