The Color of Light
Now Playing: on RadioNuages.com
Topic: Dana Cunningham
Review: "A rare recent work that not only sounds beautiful, but also evokes emotional journeys. As a film producer, I know how hard it is to inspire emotion in an audience." --Clark Peterson, Producer of Academy Award-winning film, Monster

The Color of Light blends 15 tracks of idyllic artistry featuring piano soloist, Dana Cunningham's original compositions and improvisations. Among her distinctively lyrical solo works are a number of pieces enhanced with instrumental textures and contemporary structures. Featured Grammy Award-winning artists include cellist, Eugene Friesen, percussionist, Glen Velez, and Will Ackerman, on guitar. Within the contemplative nature of Dana's previous works, the result is a surprisingly powerful and evocative album radiating with liberating colors, textures, line, and space as remarkable as any natural vista or visual work of art. The Color of Light is required listening for peacekeepers, contemplative listeners, as well as classical, and jazz aficionados.
By any measure, The Color of Light is stunning. Visually, audibly, lyrically, and emotionally it is drop dead gorgeous. Even more remarkable is this recording is an independent project. Yet, by all accounts The Color of Light looks, sounds, and feels like a major label release. So well crafted, it has a beautifully eclectic sensibility that draws the listener in and holds them until the last notes fade away. It is the exceptional artist who so passionately puts every ounce of their being into a work there can literally be no expectation of how well it will be received. The Color of Light has been embraced by critics, acclaimed producers of music and film, visual artists, musicians, and contemplative listeners. Dana Cunningham's Fountain Creek Music site. You are welcome anytime. Feel free to sample audio clips from The Color of Light often. And please, do tell your friends about Dana's work, as we know discerning patrons are the most compelling influence in our campaign supporting this extraordinary contribution to the recording industry and music lovers everywhere.

Thank you for honoring my music on your program by spotlighting my CD Hope for Harmony on acousticCDigest.org on May 7, 2007. I'm still learning about the business aspects to promoting my music, and finally have an official website for my music. I was hoping that it wouldn't be too much trouble to add my link to your database: kathryntoyama.com

It was an honor to be spotlighted on your show, and I thank you for your support! Sincerely, Kathryn Toyama

My love and gratitude goes out to every one of you. I hope that the joy I have in creating this project in multiplied many times for you as you listen to the music that has been inspired through many sources and artists, as Will Ackerman, George Winston, David Nevue, David Lanz, Bill Evans, John Williams, Ennio Morricoe and the list continues! -- Denise Young

Denise’s recent and happy music news is her new CD, “Something You Dream Of…”, produced by Will Ackerman, Founder of Windham Hill and Grammy Award Winning artist. Throughout her life as a songwriter, pianist, music therapist, and instructor, her determination and a bit of synchronicity has led her toward the right road. In January of 2006, she sent her demo CD to Will at Imaginary Road Studios, and received the answer that brought her dream closer into focus. Will became her producer, and for the months prior to the studio recording at Imaginary Road Studios in September 2006, Will provided guidance and inspiration for Denise, expanding her expression on her instrument, the piano. ...more

With recent developments in technology, there are now incredible new combinations of art and music that have never had expression before - playable on everything from cell phones to home theater systems.

But as in all creative developments, it's not what the technology is, but what we do with it.

"The Path of Peace" celebrates the feeling tone of Peace by coupling the surround-recorded ambient music of pianist, Ben Dowling, with the wide-screen, multi-layer visual arts of painter, Mark Wagner. Its design is to generate a quiet, contemplative feast for the senses.

The Path of Peace is an example of empowered traditional artists collaborating on slow and beautiful. And, for those that like that sort of thing, it is the best of the best.

We think you will agree that "The Path of Peace" DualDisc (CD/DVD) is something so extraordinary, that you would feel good gifting it to the most important people in your life.

Visionsound has made every effort to create a multimedia art work that promotes aural and visual artistic excellence, integrates the best uses of technology, and delivers this in a manner that honors all of us.

Topic: Jeffrey Fisher
While composer Jeffrey A. Fisher’s upbringing in the greater Palm Springs area was modest, it was clear to everyone around him that his life would be anything but ordinary. Even as a toddler, his desire and ability to focus on practicing art and music foretold the beginnings of the modern-day Renaissance man he is today.

Over the past 500 years, there is a tradition that many classical music compositions are the soundtrack to a story, a person or a place -- Peter and the wolf, the Blue Danube, the rodeo, the devil, etc. Following this path is Jeffrey Fisher, who composed and performed the new CD FAIRY TALES, is based on the old tales for children written by Hans Christian Andersen.

Of course, as with so much contemporary music, Fisher created the music on a synthesizer, but the instrumental sounds re-create a full traditional symphony orchestra. Fisher strives to capture the moods and personalities of those classic childhood fantasies of Thumbellina (the tiny adventuresome girl), Red Shoes (the selfish dancer) and The Mermaid (who falls in love with a human prince). Fisher's music originally scored a ballet based on these stories.

KATHRYN TOYAMA: Hope for Harmony

Lyrically evocative piano compositions with purity of heart and a peaceful purpose. Allow your soul to drift on a soothing yet melodic healing journey.

"The new album by pianist Kathryn Toyama, is by turns, lovely, passionate, and haunting and at moments, all three. Toyama weaves magic on the keyboard, throws a net and pulls the listener in. Spellbinding." ~ Kathleen Wallace King, Novelist & Screenwriter

Through an intensely sincere piano performance and personal cathartic journey, Kathryn's debut album gently implores the chance for harmony in our changing world, while sending an inspiring message to foster human relationships, personally and globally.

Emotionally eclectic, yet coherent, each piece unfolds on a journey to heal the heart, transporting the listener to a joyful finale when joined by a refreshingly warm acoustic guitar, played by Richard Alan, in a wondrous dialogue celebrating life. All selections on this album have been selected for air play on the RADIOnages syndicated service.
