08/06/02 Yea! No more updates til after summer! Good news this month was that we're going back into the studio next week to do one track for a BandSoc (Notts uni band society) compliation CD, we're doing a new track called Serene, which should be fairly cool. Hopefully we can scrape enough money together to get back in the studio for a full demo in autumn. For bad news see Previous Gigs below...
16/5/02 Mixed fortunes this month - after coming second in last years Uni Battle of the Bands we weren't even ranked close this year. Some suspect that this is merely an example of NME's Law; pick a new band, build 'em up, knock 'em down. Another theory, perhaps weighted slightly more towards reality, is that we may have played crap.
Some good news at least; the Pristine Session demo was reviewed in issue 32 of Black Velvet magazine, which is not a porn mag but actually a well respected independant music mag. The review gave the demo 4/5 and stated "'Pristine Session' is probably one of the best demos you'll hear in ages, so look out for these guys". Personally, I could agree more.
12/03/02 We've entered Nottingham uni's annual Battle of the Bands. We came second last year but theres a helluva lot more competition this time around so if you're personal friends with any deities (or judges) put in a good word for us! The 3 heats are over the next couple of months, with the best 4 going through to the final which is gonna be at the somewhat ledgendary Rock City at the end of May.
27/02/02 Finally got a gig sorted out - we're playing the Old Vic on the 14th March. Come along and buy a shiny new Pristine Session CD! Only £2, special offer on buy 2 for £4! Or buy one and get another for the same price! You get the idea....
15/02/02 The end of the month gig fell through so we're looking at setting something up for next month, plus we're signed up for the uni battle of the bands. The semi's are around easter sometime, in The Old Angel.
The CD is sorted, will be printed this week, so we can finally stop posting about it!
On the new material horizon appears a song by the name of Vicious Circle, a bit of a proggish epic which we're fighting desperately to keep under 5minutes. Also a chilled number currently operating under the psuedonym Project Lime Green.
07/02/02 The demo master cd is finally on the way to the printers, so it should be ready in the next fortnight - and about fucking time too! Hopefully we'll have a gig by the end of the month too, so you all have something to not look forward to.
17/01/02 One of the songs from the demo, Drinking Games, can be download from the site now, check out the Downloads Page. Hopefully the CDs will be printed in the next couple of weeks so you can add us to your collections then :-).
12/12/01 Finished the demo, it sounds pretty fucking amazing, and we're getting a load printed in January with artwork and everything. We'll be selling them dirt cheap for 2 or 3 quid, so we'll mail everyone on the mailing list with details. Let you know more soon. We also have a couple of prospective gigs lined up for early next year. Again, we'll let you know more when we can.
10/12/01 We spent yesterday in the studio, recording our first demo, which was nice. Did three tracks, Drinking Games, Seperate Ways and collapse, and tomorrow we're going back in to add vocals and mix the tracks. The producing is being done by Jonny from Pitchshifter, which should give you a rough idea of how phat it's sounding! The CD should be available from around mid January. I know, i know, try to contain your excitment.
*Editors note - Fuck knows why u would be interested in this bit.
01/06/02 Party on the Downs, Uni campus. Quick caption - 'Shite'! Turned up for our biggest ever gig and there were no amps! not even a fucking stool for the drummer! Eventually started about and hour and 15 late, having placated/frightened an increasingly rowdy crowd by playing ropey acoustic covers at them whilst we found some equipment. In the end it went down pretty well, though much of the applause may have been sympathic, due to the bastard sound guys we had. We had a 8 song setlist worked out but had to cut it to 4 or 5 in the ensuing chaos. And I've no idea what they were.
30/05/02 Bar Severn, Nottingham. Acoustic gig cos Petey was still doing his exams. Bands were told by management to 'turn it down'. Great live venue then....
21/03/02 The Old Angel, Nottingham. It was our heat for the Uni Battle of the Bands, we were only allowed a twenty minute set, so fitting in songs like Separate Ways (actually longer than the life span of the common fruit fly) wasnt easy, but we managed it! Venue and sound were pretty good . Unfortunatley we wont find out if we're in the finals til May 9th, when the last heat is on.
14/03/02 The Old Vic, Nottingham. Our first gig in absolutely fooking ages, and aside from Mal doing his usual 'look-i-broke-a-string-on-the-opening-chord' routine, it went pretty well. According to observers it was our best gig yet, which is kind scary considering how shite we played! The new song, Vicious Circle, went down a treat as well.
28/11/01 YES! Our first gig outside the Student Union! Its was a 'Cream of Nottingham' lineup at the Old Vic in Nottingham city centre. People at Sea, none of the above, eLEVEN, Sixkiller, Swound and us. Went really well; nice venue, good bands, good crowd, sound man that actually knew what the fuck he was doing etc.
The Ark, again, 19/11/01
The Ark, 9/10/01
The Ark, June, Battle of the Bands
The Ark, april sometime

Also playing were some really promising new bands, including the three-piece-with-no-kazoo OneManAndHisKazoo, the always excellent NOTA, and the quite frankly brilliant Loki, who were fucking awesome.

Set List
An open mic nite, and our first headling gig, which turned out to be a bloody nightmare when another band used up our slot time. Had to cut a couple of songs and got no soundcheck so sounded shit. Basically Spinal Tap playing the Aircraft Hanger type senario.
Set List
Bandsoc Social, our first full lineup gig, with People at Sea, None of the Above and Six Killer.
Set List
An MP3 of the gig is now up in the Downloads section
We still didn't have a drummer, so Ben and Murray played clean electrics and Mal played acoustic.

3rd Coast
Set list
Our first gig, an open mic night, just played on acoustics cos we didn't have drummer.
