The Gallatin Children's Choir is an educational program for children. Its mission is to provide quality music instruction as we excel in and enjoy performing choral music. Choir members will improve their unison singing skills and begin to sing two-part treble music; basic vocal technique and score reading will be developed during the rehearsals. Membership in the Gallatin Children's Choir is by audition and is open to 4th, 5th and 6th grade children of all racial, religious and economic backgrounds. The children selected to sing in the choir are those who demonstrate above average singing skills: children who sing with accurate pitch, can listen to a pattern and sing it back accurately, who show ability to sing a round and who are enthusiastic about singing. Members of the choir are encourage and expected to honor their commitment for the entire season (September - May). The Gallatin Children's Choir was developed by and is under the direction of Mrs. Susan K. Ciampa. Mrs. Ciampa is an elementary music specialist in the Sumner County School System. She received the Bachelors of Music Education from Murray State University, Murray, Kentucky in 1976 and the Master of Arts from Middle Tennessee State University in 1992. While at Middle Tennessee State University (1990-1992), Mrs. Ciampa worked with the Campus School Children's Choir as an assistant to Dr. Nancy Boone, Director. Mrs. Ciampa has also received training in the Kodaly philosophy of teaching music from Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. She is a member of the Organization of American Kodaly Educators (OAKE), Music Educators National Conference (MENC), Tennessee Music Educators Association (TMEA), and Middle Tennessee Music Educators Association (MTMEA).
